Fancy dress fun with the perfect Halloween costumes

Halloween is a great excuse for a fancy dress party. There are so many fun and scary characteristics from horror films to dress up in, but Halloween costumes now encompass far more than the usual suspects like vampires, werewolves and zombies. You won't look out of place wearing something fun and sexy rather than just sticking to the horror theme.

If you're the creative type you might to make your own Halloween costume by adapting some old clothes or having a rummage down at your local charity shop to see what old gems you can find. Use your imagination and let it run wild. Don't use real shears though if you want to go as Edward Scissorhands. If you don't have time, then head down to the fancy dress shop to see what they have. I'm a bit of a traditionalist, so my favourite costume is the werewolf. For a lighter touch you can go as Teenwolf from the Michael J Fox film. Combine your werewolf get up with an old white suit for maximum comic effect. Other great horror characters include Michael Myers and Freddy Krueger. Careful though, you might end up looking pretty terrifying if you go as either of those two.

What about kids? They like to dress up to. There are loads of fun cartoon characters or animated super heroes for them to choose from. They'll have a whale of a time dressing up as batman or spiderman, but if you want to keep it traditional without causing too much of a fright how about a witch, or a ghoul or ghost. The shops are full of great novelty items so you can add lots of fun finishing touches to their outfits like wands, lanterns, black cats and spiders webs. Perfect for a spot of trick treating, for a Halloween party or just to have fun at home on the scariest day of the year.
